2021 has not been the most straightforward of seasons for Sir Lewis Hamilton who has been in pursuit of a record breaking eighth world title. Pushed to his limits by young-gun Max Verstappen, Hamilton’s season has included a number of uncharacteristic mistakes.

At Brazil, it seemed another mistake – this time from his Mercedes team – was going to write Hamilton out of this year’s title fight for good as a disqualification for a rear wing infringement combined with an existing engine penalty resulted in the equivalent of a 25 place grid penalty.

Through the course of a 24-lap Sprint Race and the 71 laps of the Grand Prix itself, Hamilton fought back from last on the grid to claim his 101st victory in Formula One. So flawless was the performance that Former World-Champion Damon Hill called it “one of the best drives I’ve ever seen in F1.”
