Only a few more events before Shinobi closes its doors for good

by Eleanor Dawson

In a Facebook post on the 8th April, it was revealed that after 17 successful years, Shinobi would only host three more events. Run by Alex O’Brien, Shinobi has hosted major events at Welly club and Gate no5 for the past 10 years. Major artists in this genre have played here including Andy C, Friction, Shy FX, Noisia, My Nu Leng and many more. The event has even given local artists a stage to share their talent with the thousands that attend.

Giving the students of Hull University (and locals) a different genre of music than that offered from Piper and Welly, Shinobi has been a crowd favourite. It has always been a positive and friendly atmosphere, everyone is there to have a great time. Facebook reviews give Shinobi a 5 out of 5 rating with reviewers raving about the rave – “Shinobi is the reason I have so many amazing people in my life. Great organisers, great DJ’s, great people and banging music. What more could you want.”
